It just occurred to me today that this time two millennia ago, Jesus was a little boy who ran around Nazareth and played with his friends. Nobody guessed what he would do with his life. All they could see was a boy who was skilled with his hands, the son of a carpenter, and could always see through a lie. If they thought He might become something more than a carpenter, they might have guessed that he would join the Pharisees or Sadducee's since he was a natural when it came to the scriptures...but that would have been a stretch since little Yeshua would have been around six years old give or take two years.

If I remember correctly, he went straight to Egypt for several years, after the Wisemen visited him in Bethlehem.
You are probably right about that. The Bible doesn't say how long it took before Herod died. Joseph could have moved to Nazareth when Jesus was 5 or even as late as 11, but He was living in Nazareth by the time He was 12.
