Thou hast been a place of refuge for my soliloquy, but thou shalt be my haven no longer! GIVE ME WIDGETS OR GIVE ME A MESS!
I'll take either or both. Here I come wordpress!
Keep a candle lit for me xanga! I still have a lot of randomness that I haven't moved over yet so don't fail me now.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

So, I haven't gotten my new job yet but I have more hope than I've had in a while. Not to mention, I have a great story idea. That should put me in great spirits.

So, I totaly lost what it was that I was going to post about.

And It's iretrievable.

Kinda like my poor compies functionality.

I need to buy a new laptop some time...but I'm a long way from being able to buy it. I need to finish three websites and I'm discovering more and more that I don't know about web design. Does anyone know how to make PHP inteligable to someone who is tired of reading the details? I'm not too thrilled with the book I got from the library, though it's telling me what I need to know. My head didn't used to hurt so much when I was in school as it does after a few hours of this book.

Oh, and I dreamed that I accidentaly ran into a baby dragon that had gotten lost in our world. It wasn't badly hurt. Then I adopted it. Not sure why, but a baby dragon is pretty awesome.

A place of my own...

So, Mu finally decided to like me. Now, I shall move many of my posts over there. That's going to be a lot of work. Fortunately, I have tomorrow off.

I haven't finished tweaking the look and feel of the layout, not to mention, I don't really have any content over there, so I'll place a link and replace this paragraph once I make it public. Just wanted to make people generally aware of the change.

I'm also going to be splitting up a lot of my work. I've joined a project called Kdari Blog Network, and I'll be posting topically to several different blogs.

Hello all!

Things I wish everybody knew about their checking account.

1. There is no such thing as float time when you use your debit card! It's gone! No more float for you!
The second you authorize a purchase, a hold is placed on your account for the amount you agreed to pay. (If their fingers hit the right keys that is.) The cashier told you this would post tomorrow? It will, but if you spend that money again tonight, you'll have the piper to pay tomorrow. It's more important than ever to track all of your debits. Checks can still be floated, but not more than a day now. Most companies run your check through electronicaly (ACH for short) so it comes out the next day. I haven't figured out if it places a hold on your account right away too, if anyone knows, leave me a comment and I'll update this post.

2. Less than a day to come out; three days to go in.
Yes, I'm referring to refunds. It takes twenty seconds to pull money from your account, but three days to put it back in. This isn't your banks fault. If you have to blame someone, then you can blame the credit card companies...or the people who tried to work the system and made the credit card companies have to delay the process so that people don't cheat them. Greed is a disease you'll find it in every social class.

3. Don't use your debit card online unless absolutely necessary! If you make a purchase on the world wide web with your credit card and some creep gets hold of your card number, then they can create a mess, but at least your checking account isn't locked up. If worse comes to worse, you can still by bread and potatoes and shot gun shells personalized with the name of the perpetrator.

4. Be ware of fraud. When you work at a bank, you have to go through some routine courses on the basic types of check and electronic fraud...and my head about exploded. I had no idea there were so many gimmicks out there. There are some that would even get me, but generally, the way to avoid getting taken is to refuse if you aren't dead sure. This is harder for some people than others, but learning how to leave a good deal on the table is an essential survival skill. If there's not enough time to think it through and get a second opinion, then you had better leave it be. Ten bucks says it's a scam.

5. The most common type of internet fraud is free trials. They say that money talks, but no money talks louder. IT SCREAMS WACHOUT!!! Before you sign up, look up the company. If you see few results; beware. If you see a bunch of negative comments...and you still sign up, then you probably got nothing at all from this post. Larry the cable guy's probably over your head too.

So...

I think I've about exhausted my interest in writing about myself...in reverse.
It was fun though!
Guess what?
I'm going to start a new blog using wordpress. I may start more than one, but we'll see how the first one goes. Right now, I'm trying to set up wordpress MU. and yes, it is a beefed up version of wordpress. I'm not doing very well yet. It's got both myself and my uber-nerd brother stumped and stonewalled. I plan on throwing the stump at the stone wall soon, but I will have to find some superhuman strength first.
I'm sure that won't be a problem.

I have found something that makes me laugh hysterically! To end a script in php, they usually simply use the command "die". I thought this was apropriate for what the program is currently doing for me.
I do have faith that once I figure out how to stop it from killing me it will be a good cow and let me blog in peace and freedom. That is the only reason I would leave xanga. They don't have the flexibility of owning your own domain space.
I suppose when you own your own anything, there are headaches involved.

100 things that aren't me #99

I believe that I never would tell something perjurous. I would never tell a dishonesty about anything. If I say that this post is #99 then you can be sure it is. Back at the hotel I used to work for, they used to call me "honest abe". I'm still not sure why they called me "abe", but that's what they called me.
How can you know that is what they called me? Because I said so, that's how. Now, where are the brown cows?
HA ha a HA.
That was funny.
I said so.
 So believe it.

That is all.
(And I didn't steal that from someone else.)

100 things that aren't me. #4

I am 100% consistent. If I make a habit, I stick to it. You'll never see me start something and not finish it because It's simply not in my nature. I can't stand people who are always starting things and then don't keep to a set schedule to accomplish it. Why not just make a list and keep to it? Is that so hard? I can't leave a sentence undon

"Value everyones opinions but don't be afraid to tell them when they're dead wrong." ~ Dan Delyon

"The customer is always uninformed." ~ Dan Delyon

"What happens when the economy goes down? Fiction rots the mind and makes people into head-in-the-sky dreamers who are always searching for the pot at the end of the rainbow. Pot heads.
Fiction writers have almost always crossed the line into reality by writing about something and then it happening. You can see this clearly in the books about criminal activity that almost always have copy-caters who do it in real life! Not to mention those science fiction writers who invented email and the internet 20 years before they were even heard of and now look what a mess the internet is. The world wasn't ready for it, but here it is anyway! Darn them!

100 things that aren't me. #2

See first entry if you are confused.

I love scrap booking! I know this activity is most commonly associated with girls, but it's actually quite fun. I just love to take books and put scraps of metal and paper and yarn in between the pages! One time I took a paper clip and drew around it with a multicoloured pen and then smashed it with a rock and glued the paper clip in place where it didn't actually match the outline. It resembled a cockroach after you slam the book shut to smash it. That's actually where I got the idea.
I hope this doesn't affect anybodies opinion of me. I'd hate to think that anyone thinks I'm odd.

"Simply follow your instincts, except when they're wrong." ~Dan Delyon

"Don't just believe anything, believe what you can be sure is true."
